The intervention highlights the future consequences of Malta’s increasing co2 emissions from transport use, in particular the risk of sea level rise. The design utilizes an existing interactive display in the gallery which shows famous Maltese landmarks from an explorers boat in the 18th century. This intervention visualises how these landmarks could look in the year 2100 due to effects of global warming, whilst also putting present lifestyles in focus through an interactive element which visualises co2 emissions from visitors journeys.
Seen through the binoculars, these visualistations were made based on participatory activities we held with Maltese residents, and depict how Malta may adapt due to effects of climate change in the year 2100, both positive and negatively. These are the monuments already seen in artworks in the gallery.
