Inbetween

This immersive installation builds a paradox between city living and nature. Responding to research into benefits of nature on our mental well-being, the work explores every-day materials and how they can be used to mimic nature and provide a pause in our everyday. Offering an inbetween moment in the city, this installation contours over the body in an intimate opportunity for mindfulness.

After testing the ideal shape for the cave, I designed a wooden frame which temporarily holds the foil sculpture to be moulded into shape and cast in resin. This means the shape can be accurately rebuilt and tested in different environments.

The final design utilizes a metal support system which suspends the sculpture.
